We delved into the Darling Family Archive and unearthed a magnificent set of antique books titled Johnson’s Household Book of Nature: Mammalia, printed by electrotype in New York in 1880. This wonderful tome boasts stunning full-color illustrations, with no names provided for the illustrator or engraver, in keeping with the tradition of that era. We are deeply grateful to the unknown artists of Johnson’s book for these realistic depictions of lions, tigers, and bears... and zebras, donkeys, giraffes, and our favorite, elephants!
